Royal Mail is keeping the details vague—probably because they don’t want to admit a flock of pigeons unionized. The official line is that staff shortages and high parcel volumes are to blame. Oh, and a “technical glitch” in their sorting system, which sounds suspiciously like someone spilled tea on the computer.
Picture this: a giant warehouse full of letters, all shuffling around like confused toddlers. The machines that are supposed to sort them are having a little nervous breakdown, and humans are left to pick up the pieces. It’s not their fault—they’re probably working overtime to fix it while drinking lukewarm coffee.
And then there’s the weather. Because of course there is. A bit of rain, a bit of wind, and suddenly the Royal Mail fleet looks like it’s starring in a disaster movie. “Mailstorm 2026”—coming soon to a letterbox near you, but not too soon, because it’s delayed.
Which Postcodes Are Affected?
Ah, the million-dollar question. Royal Mail has a list, but they’re updating it faster than a teenager checks their phone. As of now, postcodes in the South East, parts of London, and some rural areas in the North are feeling the pinch. If you live in a place that starts with an “SW” or an “M,” you might want to bring a book to the letterbox.
My friend in Bristol (BS postcode) says her parcel has been “in transit” for four days. That’s not transit—that’s a midlife crisis. Apparently, it’s currently vacationing in Coventry, which is nice for the package, but not for her patience.
