In Iowa, you can carry a loaded handgun in your car without a permit. Yes, really. As long as it’s “secured” and not just sitting on the passenger seat like a co-pilot.
Long guns can be in the back seat, racked, or even pointed at the sky. Just don’t wave them out the window while yelling “I’m a patriot!” Troopers have no sense of humor about that.
And please: no guns in school zones unless you’re a teacher with a permit and a very good reason. Like student debt.
