2010 was the year Bieber fever hit critical mass. He was on every magazine cover, had a movie coming out ("Never Say Never," which premiered in 2011 but was filmed throughout 2010), and had girls crying at his feet worldwide. All while he was 16.
Can you imagine being 16 and having Selena Gomez come to your concert? Wait, actually, that happened. They started dating in 2010. A 16-year-old Justin was dating an 18-year-old Selena. That’s a whole different kind of "celebrity math" right there.

He was also doing interviews where he’d talk about wanting a girlfriend, and the host would smile awkwardly like, "Buddy, you’re in high school." Which, by the way, he wasn’t attending. He was homeschooled on tour busses. At 16.
The Voice Change Was Lurking
Here’s the hilarious part. In 2010, Justin’s voice was still basically a pre-pubescent choirboy. High, clear, and slightly nasal. It’s almost too cute to listen to now. By 2011, you could hear hints of a deeper voice creeping in during live performances.
He was literally aging in real-time on stage. His fans got to witness a boy go through puberty in front of millions of people. That’s a lot of pressure for a 16-year-old. Imagine your voice cracking during "One Less Lonely Girl" in front of 20,000 screaming fans. Yikes.
