PIP is split into two parts: daily living and mobility. Think of daily living as “how do you cope with life?” and mobility as “can you move around the planet?” Crohn’s usually slaps you in the face on the daily living side.
Are you constantly flaring up, meaning you can’t prepare a meal because you’re curled up on the floor? That’s points. Do you need help monitoring your condition—like tracking symptoms or remembering to take meds? More points. And the fatigue? Oh, the fatigue. That brain fog that makes you forget your own name? That’s a big deal in the assessment.
Mobility is trickier for Crohn’s. Unless your Crohn’s gives you joint pain or makes it impossible to walk 50 meters without needing a toilet, you might score lower there. But don’t write it off—some folks with severe fatigue or pain absolutely qualify.
