First up, let's kill the conspiracy theories. There hasn't been a global truce, and the Queen hasn't risen from the dead. The most common culprit? Sports rights. ITV often loses chunks of its schedule to football, rugby, or racing.
When a big tournament kicks off, the news gets shoved aside like a boring relative at a wedding. You know the drill—they run the soccer coverage, then a post-match show, and suddenly the evening news slot is just… gone. Poof.
Or maybe it's a Royal documentary. That's the other classic. ITV loves a good deep dive into the Firm, and when they do, the regular news bulletin gets downgraded. It’s like the channel says, “Royal gossip is more important than the actual news today.”
Let’s Be Honest: Is This a Big Deal?
Honestly, it’s a bit of a first-world problem, isn’t it? We have 24-hour news channels, Twitter, and our phones buzzing constantly. You didn’t miss a thing. Unless you rely on ITV as your single source for global headlines—which, let’s face it, is a dangerous game.
But I get the annoyance. It’s the principle. You sit down at 6:30 PM, ready for that familiar jingle, and instead you get a reality show about people buying holiday homes in Spain. That is the true tragedy.
