Let’s do a quick test. Your average walking speed is about 1.5 meters per second. A sprint from you during a panic? Maybe 4 meters per second. Usain Bolt? 27.8 miles per hour at his peak. That’s faster than a greyhound, a grizzly bear, and your dad’s “I’m going to get the remote” enthusiasm.
If you raced Bolt from one end of a football field to the other, you’d be about halfway when he’s already doing a victory dance. It’s embarrassing, but also hilarious. Imagine trying to explain that to your friends.

Who might be the next fastest?
Kids today are born with V-8 engines. There’s a 16-year-old named Gout Gout from Australia (yes, that’s his real name) who’s already running faster than Bolt did at his age. Parents joke that he probably came out of the womb doing a sub-10-second 100-meter dash.
Then there’s Erriyon Knighton, also a teenager, who ran 19.46 seconds in the 200 meters. That’s faster than Bolt’s junior record. These kids are proof that speed is evolving, like how your phone gets faster every year.
