So where does it go after the plane lands? This is where the real heroes step in. When the plane is parked at the gate, a truck called a honey truck (yep, that’s the real name) pulls up. A ground crew member attaches a big hose to the port on the belly of the plane.
It’s like a giant plumbing snake. They hook it up, open a valve, and the vacuum in the truck sucks the entire tank into its own tank in about sixty seconds. It’s quick, clean, and surprisingly boring to watch. The crew then closes the valve, and the plane is ready for the next adventure.
