In movies, MI5 is often the boring boss who yells at Bond. “Stop sleeping with the enemy, 007!” Meanwhile, MI6 is the action hero in a tuxedo.
TV shows like Spooks (UK version) show MI5 as gritty and realistic. James Bond shows MI6 as glamorous and deadly. MI7? Only appears in fan fiction and one episode of The Simpsons.
Notably, in Kingsman, the secret service is called “Kingsman.” But it’s clearly a parody of MI6, complete with brilliant suits and violent umbrellas.
