Grab a ruler. Seriously, go find one. If you measure 4 and 3/4 inches, and then measure exactly half of that length, you should see 2 and 3/8 inches. Amazing, math actually works in the real world.
Or pour yourself a drink. If you have 4 and 3/4 ounces of your favorite soda, half of it is 2 and 3/8 ounces. Just don’t measure it with your mouth—trust the math.
