Stefan dies more times than a video game character. He drowns. He gets staked. He even gets his heart ripped out by Klaus. But he always comes back. The show loves killing Stefan almost as much as Stefan loves feeling guilty.
His final death in the series finale is peak Stefan. He sacrifices himself to save Damon and the world. He dies with a smile, saying, “It’s okay.” Cue the ugly crying.

Technically, Stefan dies in season eight and then again in the spin-off, Legacies. As a ghost. He shows up to give his daughter advice. Then he disappears. Forever. The man couldn’t even stay dead properly. Classic Stefan.
