The Expanse – Space Thrones, Basically
Hear me out. It’s set in space, so no dragons, but the political intrigue is pure GOT DNA. Earth, Mars, and the Belt are like three rival kingdoms, all jockeying for power with a side of existential horror. The dialogue is snappy, the characters are morally grey, and there’s a detective named Miller who is basically Bronze Age Tywin Lannister if Tywin wore a fedora. It’s smart, it’s gritty, and it sticks the landing. (Unlike a certain show about ice zombies.)

Succession – If Westeros Had Stocks & Private Jets
This is the one you watch to realize that the Lannisters were just a dysfunctional billionaire family with better hair. The verbal warfare in Succession is sharper than any sword fight. You get the same feeling of “who’s stabbing who in the back this episode?” without the fantasy window dressing. Logan Roy is Tywin Lannister crossed with a grumpy bulldog, and the dialogue will make you laugh and cringe in the same breath. It’s the closest you’ll get to the Red Wedding without the actual bloodshed.
