After you’ve made your chaotic rounds, you come home with a bag of mismatched goods. You have eggs from one place, butter from a pharmacy, and a bag of frozen vegetables from a corner store that also sells birthday candles. You look at the pile, and you realize: You did it. You saved Christmas breakfast. It won’t be a picture-perfect meal from a magazine, but it will be yours.
And honestly? That’s the real spirit of the holiday. It’s not the perfect roast or the flawless table setting. It’s the adventure. It’s the laugh you share when you have to make scrambled eggs with a spatula that looks like it survived a fire. It’s the story you’ll tell next year: “Remember when I found that open gas station and bought spray cheese for Christmas dinner?”
So this Christmas, don’t panic. Step out into the quiet streets. Find that lonely shop with the flickering “Open” sign. Walk in, smile at the clerk, and buy that weird combination of snacks. You aren’t just shopping; you are living a tiny, hilarious adventure. And when you get home, you’ll realize that sometimes the best part of Christmas is the stuff you never planned to buy.
