There’s a reason this little postal service survives in an age of emails and texts. It’s not about the present list. It’s about the act of reaching out. Every letter posted to that imaginary postcode is a tiny act of hope, a belief that someone—somewhere—is listening.
We all need a place to send our wildest wishes and our most honest hopes. Maybe Santa’s Grotto isn’t just for kids. Maybe it’s a reminder that it’s okay to ask for something without irony, to believe that a kind reply might actually come back. The postage is cheap, the magic is free, and the address is surprisingly real.
So this year, take a moment. Write a letter. Seal it with a kiss or a sticker. And trust that somewhere in the sorting offices of the Royal Mail, a little bit of joy is being stamped and sent right back to you.
