The on-site restaurant, Thyme, is a solid B+. The cooked breakfast is included with many rates, and if you’ve never had a Premier Inn “full English,” you’re missing a masterpiece of mass-produced efficiency. The sausages are weirdly good. The eggs are always a bit overdone. It’s the culinary equivalent of a hug from your uncle who doesn’t know his own strength. The evening meal? Decent pub grub—burgers, fish and chips, a curry that tastes like it was made by someone who knows curry but was asked to tone it down. (Because it’s Reading, not Brick Lane.)
