Every Premier Inn has good staff, but this lot are next level. They’re smiley, helpful, and seem to have a sixth sense for when you need a extra towel or a bar of chocolate. One lady at reception gave me walking directions that included a joke about a ghost sheep. I’m still not sure if she was serious.
They’ll tell you the best spots for a sunset view over the loch. Trust them. They know things. Mysterious, loch-related things.
Things to Do (Besides Sleep)
You’re at the doorstep of Loch Lomond Shores—a shopping and dining complex that’s perfect for a rainy day. There’s a Sea Life Centre, because who doesn’t want to stare at a grumpy-looking fish while eating ice cream? For history buffs, Dumbarton Castle is a short hop away, sitting on a volcanic rock like it owns the place.
If you’re feeling brave, try the Loch Lomond Cruise. You’ll see islands, hills, and maybe a Highland cow (they’re basically fluffy celebrities). Just don’t try to give the cow a hug. I tried. It was a fluffy, one-sided affair.
