First things first: the lawns are so perfectly manicured, you’d swear they use scissors and a level. Every blade of grass looks like it’s been personally interviewed for the role of “perfect green.” It’s the kind of lawn that makes your own patch of weeds at home feel deeply inadequate.
You’ll find mature trees everywhere—oaks, silver birches, and the like. They don’t just plant a sapling and hope; they’ve got trees that look like they’ve been there since Queen Victoria was a teenager. One of them is probably old enough to hold a grudge against the Romans.
And the flowerbeds? They’re not just flowers; they’re a spectacle. We’re talking roses that blush pinker than a Victorian bride, and lavender so fragrant you’ll briefly forget you’re at a crematorium and think you’ve stumbled into a fancy spa. The only thing missing is a guy offering you cucumber water.
The Water Feature That Steals the Show
Right in the middle of the grounds is a serious water feature. It’s not a sad little puddle with a fountain the size of a lawn sprinkler. No, this is a proper reflective pond with a gentle cascade. It’s so peaceful you might accidentally sit there for an hour and miss your own appointment.
I swear, the ducks that hang out there have union-negotiated breaks. They just float around, looking contemplative, like tiny, feathered philosophers. It’s impossible to be in a bad mood when you watch a duck do a slow-motion head-dip near a memorial bench.
Kettering mum's heartbreak at being told she can't visit baby daughter
Here’s a surprising fact: the grounds were designed with wildlife corridors in mind. That’s fancy talk for “we made it nice for the animals, too.” Squirrels, birds, and the occasional fox treat it like their own exclusive nature reserve. You might even spot a kestrel hovering overhead, probably checking its Yelp reviews.
