First things first: Temple Farm is the undisputed king of car stuff. Need a new clutch for your 2005 Fiat Punto? There’s a guy here. Need your headlights polished until they gleam like a dolphin’s back? Ten more guys here.
It’s a maze of garages, body shops, and tyre fitters. Seriously, if your car makes a funny noise, just drive onto Temple Farm and thump the hood; three mechanics will materialize from the shadows with a cup of tea and a diagnosis.
But don’t let the oily smell fool you. Between the garages, you’ll find treasure troves. There are builders’ merchants that smell of fresh timber and ambition. There are places selling electrical cables that look like they belong in a sci-fi spaceship.
The “I’ll Just Pop In” Trap
This is my favorite part of Temple Farm: the unexpected shops. You go in for one bolt, and you leave with a garden gnome, a second-hand fire extinguisher, and a bag of sweets from a cash-and-carry that definitely didn’t ask for ID.
There’s an incredible carpet warehouse where the patterns are so bold they could give you a headache—in the best way. And let’s not forget the trade counters where you feel like a secret agent just by signing for a box of screws.
It’s a labyrinth of “ooh, what’s in there?” and “I didn’t know they sold that.” Honestly, it’s more fun than the museum. Don’t tell the museum I said that.
