After all this pondering, I don’t think the film is evil. It’s more like a dark fairy tale painted in bright colors. The real evil isn’t the witch or the wizard—it’s the system that lets them rule through fear and manipulation.
What’s cool is how the story makes you question everything. Is good always good? Is evil always evil? Or are we all just trying to get home, occasionally stepping on a few toes (and houses) along the way?
Next time you watch it, try seeing it from the Witch’s perspective. Or the monkeys’. You might notice that the yellow brick road isn’t just a path—it’s a moral maze. And honestly, that’s way more interesting than a simple “they lived happily ever after.”
So, is it evil? Nah. But it’s delightfully complicated. And that’s why we’re still talking about it over eighty years later.
