It’s silly, really. We’re obsessing over a store’s opening hours two years from now. That’s the magic of British culture. We plan our holidays around sales like they’re religious festivals.
And let’s be honest—it’s a great conversation starter. "Hey, is Next open on Boxing Day 2026?" gets people laughing. They either have a strong opinion or a horror story about a return queue from 2019.
It also inspires curiosity. Will robots be running the tills by 2026? Will we pay with our eyeballs? Or will Next still have that one weird perfume aisle that smells like a grandma’s attic? We need answers!
How to Stay Sane (and Prepared)
Don’t panic. You don’t need to set a calendar reminder for 2026 yet. Just remember the golden rule: Next updates their holiday hours about two weeks before Christmas. Check their website in mid-December 2026.
Or, do what I do: Assume they’re open, prepare your shopping list, and if they’re closed? Pajama shopping online. Winning. The online sale often starts at midnight on Boxing Day anyway. You can shop from your sofa in your reindeer onesie.
One last quirky detail: In 2026, Next reported that their online sale on Boxing Day was so huge, it crashed their website for 90 minutes. People were furious. They tweeted angry poems about a missing dress. It was glorious internet drama.
