The show has been renewed through Season 7 already. That’s a huge vote of confidence. Networks don’t do that for shows that are about to lose their lead.
If Reardon were leaving, we’d see a final season announcement. We don’t. We see “New Episodes Coming Soon!” banners. Take that as a good sign.
Also, Rex the dog is 12 years old now. That’s old for a shepherd mix. The show might end when he retires, not because of John. And you know what? That’s a beautiful, heartbreaking way to go.
Final Verdict: Grab Your Popcorn
Is John Reardon returning to Hudson & Rex? Yes, absolutely. He’s literally on set right now, probably arguing with a writer about whether Rex would really eat a suspect’s shoe.
So stop worrying. Start rewatching old episodes. Practice your own detective voice in the mirror. I won’t judge; I do it too.
And if someone tells you he’s leaving again? Laugh in their face. Then send them a link to this article. You’re welcome.
