On one hand, a hot dog does consist of a filling, typically sausage, placed between two slices of bread, or in this case, a bun. So, if we're going by the dictionary definition, it's a pretty strong case for the hot dog being a sandwich. But, as you'll soon see, there are many who would vehemently disagree with this reasoning.
Now, I know what you're thinking: "But wait, isn't a hot dog just a type of food that happens to have bread and filling?" And to that, I say, exactly! You're thinking critically about this, and that's what makes this debate so much fun. The more you think about it, the more you realize that the lines get blurred between what we consider a sandwich and what we don't.
