Most Home Bargains stores are closed on Easter Sunday. Yes, you read that right. The land of the ten-pound George Foreman grill and the inexplicably cheap washing-up liquid shuts its doors.
Why? Because Easter Sunday is a public holiday in the UK. And while some shops bravely open, Home Bargains tends to give its staff the day off. Good for them. Bad for your last-minute party platter needs.
Don’t shoot the messenger. I’m just the voice of hard-won, bargain-hunting experience. I once drove twenty miles on Easter Sunday for a bottle of Vanish. It was a dark day.
But Wait—There’s a Twist (Like a Cadbury’s Egg)
Scotland is a different beast entirely. In Scotland, Easter Sunday is not a public holiday in the same way. So, many Home Bargains in Scotland do open their doors.
Also, some English stores near tourist spots or in big cities might flout the rules. But that’s rare. Think of it like finding a solid gold egg in a field of foil.
Your best bet? Check the store locator on the Home Bargains website. I know, I know. It’s a pain. But it beats standing in an empty car park, crying over a closed door.
