The number one reason wood lice crash your pad is moisture. Think of your bathroom, basement, or kitchen as a five-star spa for them. Start by fixing any leaky taps, sealing cracks, and running a dehumidifier—especially in basements or laundry rooms. A dry home is a wood-lice-free home.
Check your plant pots. Overwatered indoor plants create a perfect microclimate. Let the soil dry out between waterings, and consider placing a layer of gravel in the tray. If you’re a serial over-waterer, you’re basically running a wood louse bed and breakfast.
Don’t forget the outside. Clear away piles of leaves, mulch, and rotting wood from your foundation. Move firewood at least 20 feet away from your house. Wood lice love a good woodpile more than a hipster loves a vintage record collection.
