Out of lemons? No problem. Grab that bottle of white vinegar you use for cleaning windows and pickles. Soak the stained area in undiluted vinegar for about 20 minutes. The acetic acid is a rust dissolver.
After the soak, rub the fabric gently and rinse. If you’re dealing with a big stain, you can even boil some vinegar and soak the whole garment for 10 minutes. Note: don’t boil silk or wool—they’ll shrink like your motivation on a Monday morning.
Vinegar is cheap, non-toxic, and makes you look like a resourceful wizard. Warning: your kitchen will smell like a salad dressing factory for an hour.
