Sometimes you need to disrupt their chemical trail immediately. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water, add a squirt of dish soap, and spray the hell out of their path. This destroys the pheromone trails that guide them.
It won’t kill the colony, but it will confuse them for a few hours. Use it as a temporary blockade while your bait does the real work. Plus, you’ll have a clean, vinegar-scented floor. Silver lining, right?
