Let’s get nerdy for a second. The Hunger Games (2012): J-Law was 21. Catching Fire (2013): she was 22-23. Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014): she was 24. And Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015): she was 25. So she aged from 21 to 25 on screen while Katniss was supposedly 16 to 18. That’s like watching your baby sister grow up in dog years. But honestly, did anyone care? No. Because she sold it. She made us believe a 25-year-old was a traumatized teen rebel. That’s talent, folks.

What About the Other Actors? (Because You Know You’re Wondering)
Josh Hutcherson was 19 in the first movie—playing a 16-year-old. Liam Hemsworth was 21—playing an 18-year-old. Woody Harrelson was 51 playing Haymitch (who is around 40 in the books). So the age gaps were all over the place. It’s like a high school reunion where everyone is a decade older but still pretending. But hey, Hollywood math: real age + makeup + acting chops = fictional age.
Side note: Elizabeth Banks (Effie) was 37 during the first movie, playing a woman in her 30s. So actually, she was the only one who was age-accurate. Effie would be proud. And slightly annoyed that no one noticed her punctuality.
