On a standard Saturday night, the live show runs for roughly 75 to 90 minutes, adverts included. That’s your main broadcast window, from the first glitter bomb to the final scoreboard reveal. But here’s the kicker: depending on the week, it can stretch out like a tango in slow motion. Think grand finales, special guest performances, or that one show where they bring out the entire cast of The Lion King.
So, yes, you’ll be settled in for about an hour and a half of pure, unadulterated joy. But wait—there’s more to the story, and it involves a very cheeky little show after the main event.
The Secret Extension: Strictly: It Takes Two?
Oh, you thought the party ended when the last couple got their scores? Not a chance, friend. The live show is only half the fun, because Saturday is also the night of the results show—which airs the next day. That’s right: your Saturday commitment is actually a two-part saga: the dances (75-90 minutes on Saturday), then the elimination (a shorter, punchier 45-60 minutes on Sunday). It’s like a mini-series for your feet and heart.
And let’s not forget the glorious unpredictability. Some weeks, the pros will do a group number that goes on for an extra two minutes. Other weeks, a judge (looking at you, Craig) might deliver a monologue that rivals a Shakespearean soliloquy. The runtime breathes with the energy of the night, and that’s what makes it magic.
