We live in a world of efficiency. We order food on apps, eat standing up, and multitask our way through meals. Hickory’s forces you to stop. You can’t rush smoked meat; it demands patience. And in a life that feels like a never-ending tick-list, that’s a beautiful form of rebellion.
Driving back down Almond Brook Road, with the faint smell of smoke still in your jumper, you’ll feel a quiet contentment. It’s not just that you’re full. It’s that you’ve spent two hours doing something deeply human: eating well, with good people, by a metaphorical fire. And that, right there, is the real secret sauce.
