The Hazelwood Centre isn’t just a social hub. It’s where the actual rugby magic happens. The training pitches are pristine. But the real fun is in the gym. Players have to push a massive sled across the floor. It’s called “The Turf Tractor.” They grunt, they sweat, they look ridiculous. One time, a player’s shorts fell down mid-push. The whole squad howled with laughter. The sled didn’t stop, though. That’s dedication.
There’s also an ice bath. It’s outside. In winter. Players scream like children when they jump in. The groundskeepers record the screams on their phones. They use them as ringtones. I am not making this up. This is the level of chaos we’re dealing with.

The Mascot Who Causes Chaos
Meet Digger the Leprechaun. He’s the club mascot. He’s not cute. He’s a menace. Digger runs through the crowd during matches, stealing hats and hugging kids too hard. Once, he tried to tackle a referee. The ref laughed. Digger didn’t. He just stared. For ten seconds. The crowd lost it.
Digger has his own chair in the Hazelwood clubhouse. It’s tiny, painted green, and bolted to the floor. Fans take selfies with it. It’s become a pilgrimage spot. People come from Cork just to sit in that chair. Why? Nobody knows. It’s just… a thing.
