Before you declare defeat, look at the fireplace’s internal switch. Some units have a tiny on/off toggle inside the control compartment, behind a panel. I’ve seen people (yes, me) pull the entire fireplace apart, only to find a switch that was flipped to “OFF” by a curious toddler.
Also, check your circuit breaker. A tripped GFCI outlet can kill power to the fireplace’s blower and ignition system. It happens more than you’d think, especially after a storm.
If you’ve done all this and you’re still cold, take the blanket and the wine, and sit next to a space heater. There is no shame in retreating to fight another day. And tomorrow, call a professional—just make sure they bring a toothbrush.
