Grab a long, flexible brush. A plumbing snake works. Or a wire coat hanger you’ve straightened out. MacGyver that thing.
Shove it into the hose. Gently. You’re not fighting a dragon. You’re just tickling out a clump of mashed potatoes.
Run hot water through the hose into your bucket. Lots of it. Let it flush for a minute. Listen to that satisfying gurgle. That’s the sound of redemption.
What if the clog is in the sink drain instead?
Here’s a dirty trick: sometimes the hose is fine, but the garbage disposal is the real villain. If you have a disposal, make sure it’s completely empty. The dishwasher drains into it.
Run the disposal for 30 seconds with cold water. Then check if the dishwasher works. It’s the “stupid easy fix” that saves 90% of headaches.
Still clogged? You might need to snake the sink drain. Or call a plumber. But let’s pretend you’re too proud for that.
