Waterloo is a beautiful disaster. It’s loud, confusing, and smells faintly of damp socks and anxiety. But it’s also iconic. It’s the place where millions of stories begin, end, or get stuck behind a tardy commuter blocking the ticket barrier.
So next time you’re there, take a moment. Look up at the huge glass roof. Listen to the roar of a thousand conversations. Realize you’re part of the busiest train station in the UK, a place so insane it makes Grand Central Terminal look like a cozy village halt. And if you see me, I’ll be the one standing on the right of the escalator, silently judging you for walking on the wrong side.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go dodge a suitcase and buy a sausage roll. Welcome to Waterloo.
