If the idea of disconnecting your sink makes you break into a light sweat, meet the countertop filter. It’s the compromise candidate at a political convention—everyone sort of likes it, and nobody hates it.
This system connects directly to your faucet head with a simple diverter valve. You flip a switch, and water diverts into the filter, then back to normal. It’s the lazy genius solution. You don’t need tools, you don’t need to crawl under the sink, and you can uninstall it when you move out.
It has one main flaw: it occupies counter real estate. If your kitchen island is already hosting a fruit bowl, a coffee maker, and a sad succulent, this thing might be the straw that breaks the clutter-camel’s back.
