Let’s get the obvious question out of the way: where is this thing happening in 2026? After the Leicester experiment in 2026 (which, honestly, was a logistical miracle given the weather), the BBC is keeping us guessing. Early whispers suggest they are eyeing a massive green space in the North West this time.
Of course, they could just drop us in a muddy field in the middle of nowhere again. And you know what? We’d still go. Because Radio 2 In The Park isn’t about the location—it’s about that specific, slightly mad energy of hearing a DJ you’ve loved for decades while a teenager next to you screams for a TikTok star.
The Line-Up: Where Legends Meet… TikTok?
If 2026 taught us anything, it’s that nobody curates a weirder, more wonderful mix than Radio 2. You had Kylie Minogue serving disco realness at 7 PM, and then an hour later, some guy with an acoustic guitar who looks like your geography teacher. It works. It really works.
For 2026, the rumor mill is churning. I’m hearing Madonna might be in talks—though that could just be my desperate wishful thinking. More realistically, expect Elton John to pop up via satellite (he loves a good virtual cameo, doesn’t he?). And you absolutely cannot ignore the Take That contingency. They headline every other year by law, I think.
The Side Stages: Where the Real Chaos Lives
Let’s be honest: the main stage is great, but the BBC Introducing stage is where you find the gems. Last year, I stumbled upon a jazz-funk trio from Bristol who played a 12-minute cover of “Careless Whisper.” It was transcendent. It was also, oddly, the only time it stopped raining.

In 2026, I’m betting on more unhinged collaborations. Imagine Rick Astley joining a drum and bass DJ for a remix of “Never Gonna Give You Up.” That’s the Radio 2 sweet spot—nostalgic, slightly ironic, but played with total sincerity. You can’t fake that.
