You submit. And then you wait. For weeks. Sometimes months. You’ll refresh your email constantly. You’ll start seeing glitter in your dreams.
If you get an email that says “Congratulations!” you have approximately three seconds to scream before you dance around your living room. You’ll then need to confirm your attendance immediately. They give you a tiny, terrifying deadline. Miss it? Gone. Poof. Back to the sofa.
Strictly Come Dancing - Sheffield - The Live Tour 2026 tickets
If you get a “Sorry” email, don’t cry. Yet. It usually means you’re on a reserve list. A lot of people cancel last minute. You might get a call on a Tuesday saying, “Can you be at Elstree Studios tomorrow?” You say yes. You fake a sick day. It’s worth it.
What Happens When You Actually Get In?
It’s a production line of joy. You arrive at Elstree. You queue. You get handed a wristband like you’re backstage at a rock concert. You’re also told the sacred rules: no phones, no cameras, no heckling Craig Revel Horwood, no matter how much you want to.
The warm-up guy (usually the hilarious Jon Hamp or a similarly fabulous soul) will get the crowd going. You’ll do the “Strictly clap.” You’ll practice your “Ooooooh!” when a dancer does a lift. You’ll feel ridiculous. You’ll love it.
Then the lights go down. And Tess and Claudia walk out. And you realize you’re about ten meters away from actual magic. The energy is electricity. The dancers are even more sparkly in person. And yes, you will forget to clap because you’re too busy staring at Anton’s smile. It’s a lot.
