I’m not here to give you a syllabus. I just want you to think: which book ambushed you? The one that made you change your major, dump your partner, or start a garden? That’s your most influential book.
For me, it’s still that dog-eared Mockingbird. It taught me that courage is when you know you’re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway. (And that’s basically my whole life strategy now.)
So go ahead. Pick one from this list—or dig up the one that haunts you. Re-read it. Let it hurt. You might just find it ambushes you all over again. And that, my friend, is the whole point.
